Nittany Lion Quartet Named to TopDrawerSoccer Midseason Top 100

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Four Nittany Lions have been named to TopDrawerSoccer's Midseason Top 100 List. The list is comprised of the top sophomores, juniors and seniors in NCAA women's soccer. Frannie Crouse (Greensburg, Pa.) leads the Nittany Lion quartet at 43, Megan Schafer (Langhorne, Pa.) is 49th, Nickolette Driesse (Wayne, N.J.) is 58th and Brittany Basinger (Purcellville, Va.) is 74th.

Basinger, a redshirt junior defender, has started all 14 matches on the Nittany Lion backline this season. On the year, she has scored two goals and two assists. In a 3-0 win at Maryland on Oct. 9, Basinger recorded a career-best two goals. Basinger and the Nittany Lion defense have tallied six shutouts on the year.

Crouse, a junior forward, has tallied a team-leading 19 points on a team-best nine goals and added one assist. She also ranks second on the team in shots (37) and shots on goal (19).

Driesse, a senior midfielder, has recorded a team-best six assists in the 2016 season. In a 3-0 victory at Maryland on Oct. 9, Driesse tied her career-best in assists with two.

Schafer, a junior forward, has posted 11 points on four goals and three assists on the year. Schafer ranks second on the team in points and goals and she is also tied for second on the team in assists.

The No. 16 Nittany Lions host the Rutgers Scarlet Knights Thursday, Oct. 13, at 7:30 p.m. live on the Big Ten Network. Penn State closes out the weekend homestand against Purdue Sunday, Oct. 16, at 1 p.m.
