Page Named Preseason All-Big Ten

Oct. 24, 2016

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" After a strong showing as a freshman, sophomore Teniya Page (Chicago, Ill.) earned a nod to the preseason All-Big Ten squad from the conference coaches, as announced by the conference office on Monday (Oct. 24).

Two 10-person all-conference teams were chosen, one by the Big Ten head coaches and the other selected by a panel of media members. Each panel also ranked their top three teams.

The only freshman in the NCAA to average at least 15.0 points and 4.0 assists per game, Page earned Big Ten All-Freshman team respects, second team All-Big Ten honors from the conference coaches and honorable mention accolades from the media following 2015-16. Page was just the second Lady Lion to earn unanimous Big Ten All-Freshman team honors and only the third rookie in PSU history named first or second team All-B1G after garnering second team laurels, joining Kelly Mazzante and Maggie Lucas.

She averaged 15.3 points and 4.2 assists per game, while logging 37.6 minutes per game as the only Lady Lion to start all 31 games. Her 37.6 minutes played per game ranked No. 2 on the single season charts, while ranking No. 14 nationally and No. 2 among NCAA Division I freshmen.

The only rookie in school history to reach 450 points and 100 assists in a season, Page led the team in scoring, assists, free throws made and three-point percentage, while also sitting as the top rebounding guard on the team. She finished the year ranked among the top-10 on nine of Penn State freshmen season lists, including top 5 in minutes per game (1st, 37.6), free throws made (3rd, 109), points (4th, 473), 3-point percentage (T4th, .409), field goals made (5th, 164), assists (5th, 131) and games started (T5th, 31).
