WINTHROP, Mass. - Freshman goaltender Daniela Paniccia (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) has been named the College Hockey America (CHA) Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. This is the first career award for Paniccia.
Last Friday, Paniccia recorded a 33-save performance against the UConn Huskies in a 0-0 tie. Paniccia's solo shutout Friday was the first by a Nittany Lion freshman goaltender in program history.
Penn State begins CHA play Thursday, Oct. 27, at RIT. The Nittany Lions and the Tigers will play inside Ritter Arena on Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. and then the two teams close out the two-game series inside the Gene Polisseni Center Friday, Oct. 28, at 2 p.m.
