UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" The Penn State women's golf team competed in the first round of the 15th annual Landfall Tradition and finished with a round score of 309, and sit in 17th place.
The team was led by the newcomer Maddy Herr (New Hope, Pa.) who shot a 75 plus-3, and is tied for 37th in the player leaderboard heading into round two.
Sophomore Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) who had one of her best tournaments of last season at the Landfall Tradition, finished the first round with a score of 77 plus-5.
The other two sophomores in the starting lineup Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) and Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) both shot a 79 plus-7, while the senior Kate Granahan (Allentown, Pa.) recorded a 78 plus-6 in round one.
Penn State will be grouped with Michigan State and Brown for the second round and will be teeing off on hole 10 at 8:30 a.m.
This is the first year that the University of Oklahoma has competed in the Landfall Tradition and they lead the way heading into round two. The team shot a 284 4-under and are four strokes ahead of Wake Forest.
