UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" The Penn State women's golf team competed in the second round of the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C. and recorded the same score they shot in the first round with a 309 plus-21, which moved them up a spot to 16th place in the standings.
The Nittany Lions have a team score of 618 plus-42 through the first two rounds and are five strokes behind the 15th placed Michigan State Spartans.
Two sophomores Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) and Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) led the team, both shooting a 75 plus-3. Basso recorded two birdies on the day, while Waller shot a plus-1 through her final nine holes.
Newcomer Maddy Herr (New Hope, Pa.) shot two birdies in round two on her way to a 77 plus-5 round score. Herr and Waller both head into the final round with a tournament score of 152, the lowest on the team, and are tied for 53rd on the player leaderboard.
Sophomore Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) and senior Kate Granahan (Allentown, Pa.) both shot an 82 plus-10 in the second round. Granahan has a total tournament score of 160, while Rogowicz holds a 161 going into the final round.
Wake Forest heads into the final round with a seven-stroke lead over two teams tied for second place. Wake Forest has a team score of 572 4-under and has a sophomore, Jennifer Kupcho, contending for an individual title, in first place in the player leaderboard with a tournament score of 139 5-under.
The third and final round of the Landfall Tradition will begin tomorrow with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m.
