UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State University men's hockey team jumped five spots in the latest uscho.com national poll after sweeping Canisius College in a pair of games this past weekend.
The Nittany Lions make the largest jump of any team this week as they move up five spots from No. 19 to No. 14 after receiving 253 points, 124 more than the previous week.
Penn State also cracks into the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine National Poll for the first time this season debuting at No. 15 after receiving 32 points.
This marks the first time since March 7, 2016 that the Nittany Lions are ranked in both major polls and the sixth time the Lions have been ranked 14 in the uscho.com poll tying the highest ranking in program history.
Ohio State (No. 11), Minnesota (No. 13) and Michigan (No. 17) are also recognized in the top-20 this week from the Big Ten.
In the pairwise rankings, the best indication at which 16 teams will make the NCAA Tournament, Penn State remains at No. 6 with only Ohio State (No. 3) being ranked higher out of the six B1G schools.
The Nittany Lions are currently riding a modest five game unbeaten streak (4-0-1), currently fifth best in the nation.
Penn State is back in action this Thursday and Friday night as they welcome the Niagara University Purple Eagles to town for a pair of non-conference affairs.
