Men's Tennis Heads to Bobby Bayliss Invitational This Weekend

October 5, 2016 - UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; The Penn State men's tennis team will follow up its fall season opener with another tournament on the road. The Nittany Lions will be trekking to South Bend, Ind. to compete at the Bobby Bayliss Invitational this weekend hosted by the University of Notre Dame.

The blue and white is going into this second tournament ready to give returning veterans more critical experience while allowing its younger players to compete against top-notch competition. Play will begin on Friday, October 7 and conclude on Sunday, October 9 at the Eck Tennis Pavilion .

Sophomore Zach Lieb (Newtown Square, Pa.) is coming off of a very strong weekend, having won his flight at the Ivy Plus Invitational in singles.

Also eager to continue a hot streak are doubles teams Gabriel Nemeth (Brasilia, Brazil)/Ben Lieb (Newtown Square, Pa.) and Matt Galush (Cary, N.C.)/Henry Gordon (New Braunfels, Tx.). The Nemeth/Lieb and Galush/Gordon pairs swept their flight in the doubles competition at the same Ivy Plus Invitational a few weeks ago.

"We are excited to compete at such an elite tournament," says head coach Jeff Zinn. "There are so many good teams and players from all around the country. We are taking some of our younger players to give them a true test of what competition will be like in the spring. We want them to be recognized and this is a great tournament to showcase them."
