USCHO.com Poll | USA Today Poll | PairWise Rankings (Updated Nightly)
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State University men's ice hockey team continues their climb up the national polls as they rank No. 12 in both the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls released earlier today.
This marks the highest ranking ever for the Nittany Lions in each respective poll after beginning the season unranked in both.
On the heels of their second consecutive weekend sweep, this time over Niagara with a pair of 5-1 victories, PSU climbs two spots in the USCHO.com poll after receiving 454 points, 201 points more than last week's total.
In the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, the Lions are up three spots receiving 141 points, 109 more than the previous week.
Only Minnesota ranks higher out of Big Ten opponents coming in at No. 8/7, respectively. Ohio State (No. 14) and Michigan (No. 18) also remained ranked while Wisconsin is receiving votes.
Penn State is also the highest ranked Big Ten member in the PairWise as they begin the week No. 2 only behind Minnesota-Duluth for the top spot.
PSU hits the middle point of their season-long, 10-game home stand this weekend as they welcome Alaska-Anchorage to Pegula Ice Arena for a pair of games on Friday and Saturday evening at 7 p.m.
