NEW ORLEANS, LA - The Penn State women's cross country team moved up one spot to No. 8 in this week's rankings, according to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) week seven poll released Monday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions are fresh off a First-place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship for a second-consecutive season this past Friday at the Blue & White Golf Course in University Park, Pa.
Penn State's First-place finish featured a first-place finish by Tessa Barrett who completed the 6-kilometer course in 20:00 helping her team qualify for the 2016 NCAA Championships for the sixth time in the last seven years.
The Penn State women's cross country team is also ranked No. 7 in the Saucony Flo50 Women's Team XC Rankings.
Penn State will return to the course Nov. 19 as they finish the 2016 NCAA Cross Country season at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Indiana for the NCAA CHampionships.
