ROSEMONT, Ill. ââ'¬" Freshman Nate Sucese (Fairport, N.Y.) has been named the Big Ten Conference Third Star of the Week as announced by the league office Tuesday Morning.

Sucese becomes the third Nittany Lion rookie to earn weekly honors so far this season joining classmates Peyton Jones (Langhorne, Pa.) and Denis Smirnov (Moscow, Russia). Jones has been named third star and first star this season while Smirnov took home second star accolades last week.

The freshman forward led the team with four points during a weekend sweep of Alaska-Anchorage including having a hand in each goal scored during a 3-1 victory in the series finale on Saturday. Sucese tallied two goals including the game-winner while adding an assist for a career-best three points.

His two goals mark the second time on the season he has registered two in a single game and it's also the second multi-point game of his career. Sucese is now second on the team with his six goals on the season and tied for third with 10 points.

The rookie also ties for third in the Big Ten in freshman scoring while his six goals ties for the freshman lead.

Penn State is back in action on Friday evening as they host Arizona State in the first of a two-game series at 7 p.m. The two teams conclude the set the following day with an afternoon matinee scheduled for 3 p.m.
