The Penn State Women's Fencing Team Opens Day One at the Garret Penn State Open

Nittany Lions fencing team came out strong on day one of the Garret Penn State Open

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; - The Nittany Lions women's fencing team opened day one of the 44th Garret Penn State Open taking home third place in epee and saber.

The women's foil started the day of competition with senior Desree Ortega-Furgeson (Wyoming, Mich.) placing tenth, freshman Alissa Gozali (Singapore) coming in 14th and junior Najiyyah Clark finishing 19th.

Women's epee competed strong with freshman Barbara Vanbenthuysen (Spring, TX) tying for third place, Yumin Wang (Monmouth Junction, N.J.) placing seventh and senior Jessie Radanovich (Tollhouse, Calif.) following in eighth place.

Women's saber finished the day with another third place win by senior Teodora Kakhiani (Tbilisi, Georgia), then sophomores Karen Chang (Hong Kong, China) placing sixth and DeAna Oliver (Montclair, N.J.) finishing in tenth.
