#8 M. Hockey Inks Three During Early Signing

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The eighth ranked Penn State men's ice hockey team along with the coaching staff has announced the signing of three players for the 2017-18 season during November's early signing period.

The Nittany Lions will welcome Evan Barratt (Bristol, Pa.), Brett Murray (Bolton, Ont.) and Alex Stevens (Plymouth, Minn.) to campus next fall as part of their 2021 recruiting class.


Evan Barratt

Barratt is currently in his second season with the United States National Development Team and has appeared in 20 games this season with four goals and 12 assists for 16 points. The forward is a left-handed shot and scored 15 goals while adding 25 assists for 40 points in 58 games played last season for the Under-17 National Team.

Brett Murray

Brett Murray was selected with the 99th overall pick in the fourth round of 2016 NHL Draft by the Terry Pegula owned Buffalo Sabres this past June. His selection in the draft came on the heels of a very successful season in the Central Canada Hockey League for the Carleton Place Canadians where he put up 46 points in 48 games with 14 goals and 32 assists. He also added five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 16 postseason contests.

This season Murray is playing for the Youngstown Phantoms in the United States Hockey League and has registered 15 points through the first 18 games of the season scoring four goals and adding 11 helpers.

Alex Stevens

Stevens is a right-shot defenseman who is currently in his second season with the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League. In 15 games the 1997 product has registered eight points on a pair of goals and six assists. Last season in 54 games played Stevens put up six goals while adding 14 assists for 20 points.
