UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's hockey team dropped a 2-0 decision against the No. 3 St. Lawrence Saints in a non-conference contest Tuesday afternoon inside the Pegula Ice Arena.

"I am really pleased with how we grew from yesterday to today," head coach Josh Brandwene said. "With the exception of a five-minute stretch in the second period, that was toe-to-toe playoff style hockey. That's the kind of atmosphere that we are going to be in during conference play. I am really pleased with the lessons that we've learned from this series that we can take forward."

In net for the Nittany Lions (5-8-3, 4-1-1 CHA), junior Hannah Ehresmann (Minnetonka, Minn.) recorded a 33-save performance, which included 18 saves in the second period.

After a defensive battle in the first period, the Saints struck first in the game during the second period of play.

For St. Lawrence (15-0-1, 8-0-0 ECAC), Hannah Miller netted her seventh goal of the year at the 2:45 mark in the second stanza to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. The Saints then added to their lead 2:33 into the third period on Kayla Vespa's second goal of the 2016-17 season. Lydia Grauer recorded an assist on both St. Lawrence goals.

The Nittany Lions close out their six-game homestand against College Hockey America (CHA) opponent Robert Morris, Dec. 3-4. Puck drop is set for 1 p.m. on Dec. 3 and noon on Dec. 4.
