COLLEGE PARK, MD - Penn State used two second half goals to propel them into the second round of the Big Ten Tournament Thursday afternoon as Penn State (15-2) downed Indiana (8-12) at Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex on the campus of the University of Maryland.

"I thought that our team really had a lot of composure this game as opposed to last game," said head coach Charlene Morett-Curtiss.

"I also thought that we did a nice job of moving the ball from sideline-to-sideline and north and south. It was a great job by our team on defense, Skyler Fretz (Oley, Pa.) played very well, so did Gini (Bramley) so it's nice to see us play a total team game."

Penn State held a 1-0 lead at the half on a goal from Gini Bramley (Elizabethtown, Pa.) as the sophomore midfielder took a cross field pass from Brooke Birosik (Ickesburg, Pa.) and pushed it in from right in front of the cage three feet out.

At the half it was all Penn State as the Nittany Lions led in shots taking 12 to Indiana's one, and penalty corners earning five to Indiana's zero.

The second half featured an exciting three-minute stretch from 46' to 49' as three goals were scored between the two teams.

Penn State started the scoring spree with a goal from Shay Cannon (Wilmington, Del.) as she redirected a shot from Katie Dembrowski (Palmyra, Pa) to earn her 11th goal of the season and give the Nittany Lions a 2-0 lead.

Indiana responded a short two minutes later as Elle Hempt found the cage assisted by Mollie Getzfread and Nora Aucker to record her first goal of the year.

Penn State marched right back down the field to extend the lead to 3-1 on Bramley's second goal of the game - 12th of the season - to secure the the win for the Lions as Indiana couldn't find a goal down the stretch despite emptying the goal for the final five minutes of the second half.

Penn State finished the game with 23 shots and 11 penalty corners compared to Indiana's six shots and four penalty corners. Penn State improves to 27-16 all time in the Big Ten Tournament with the win over Indiana.

Penn State will face Michigan in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament tomorrow Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. ET at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex in College Park, MD.
