KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Three members of the Penn State women's soccer team received All-Great Lakes Region honors, as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Elizabeth Ball (Richmond, Va.), Frannie Crouse (Greensburg, Pa.) and Nickolette Driesse (Wayne, N.J.) were named to the NSCAA All-Great Lakes Second Team.
Ball, a junior defender, started all 21 matches on the Nittany Lion backline during the 2016 season. Ball and the Nittany Lion defense tallied nine shutouts throughout the 2016 slate. Offensively, she tallied two goals and netted one assist. Her first point of the 2016 season came on an assist on the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win at Wisconsin on Sept. 18. Ball scored her first goal of the season in a 2-0 win against Iowa (9/23) and then she scored her second goal of the year in a 3-0 victory at Maryland (10/9).
Crouse, a junior forward, recorded a start in all 21 matches for the Blue and White in 2016. Crouse finished the 2016 campaign with 27 points on career-best 12 goals and three assists. Crouse's 12 goals led the Nittany Lions and the Big Ten. Throughout the course of the 2016 season, Crouse netted five game-winning goals, tallied at least one goal in three-straight games twice, which included five goals over a three-game span (9/4-11). In the all-time Penn State rankings, Crouse is 12th in goals scored (33) and 15th in points (78).
Driesse, a senior midfielder, tallied a start in all 21 matches for the Nittany Lions in 2016. On the year, Driesse recorded eight points on one goal and six assists. Driesse's six assists in 2016 were a team-best. Driesse posted three-straight games with at least one assist (9/18-25) and she tied a career-best two assists in a 3-0 win at Maryland (10/9). Driesse netted her lone goal of the season in a 6-0 win against Bucknell in the first round of the NCAA Tournament (11/11).
