McMillan, Petersen Receive CHA Weekly Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. --
A pair of Nittany Lions received College Hockey America (CHA) weekly honors, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. Freshman Katie McMillan (Minnetonka, Minn.) was named the Rookie of the Week and senior Amy Petersen (Minnetonka, Minn.) received Player of the Week honors.

The Nittany Lions are coming off a series split against the Mercyhurst Lakers in Erie, Pa., last weekend. The Nittany Lions fell, 6-4, in the series opener before tallying a 3-2 overtime victory.

McMillan, a defenseman, receives her first career Rookie of the Week honor after tallying three points in the Mercyhurst series. In the two-game series, McMillan posted one goal and two assists. McMillan opened the series on Friday with her first career goal and then she closed out the weekend with a career-best two assists. McMillan currently has a career-best three-game point streak (1-3--4).

Petersen picks up her second Player of the Week honor this season after recording three points against Mercyhurst. In the series, Petersen netted an assist in the opener then she tallied a pair of goals, including the game-winner in overtime, in the series finale. Petersen currently has a season-best five-game point streak (5-4--9).

The Nittany Lions return home to the Pegula Ice Arena for a six-game homestand beginning with Lindenwood, Nov. 11-12. Puck drop is set for 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 and 1 p.m. on Nov. 12.
