UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's basketball program will open its Big Ten slate at home for the second-straight season when it hosts Indiana on Wednesday (Dec. 28) insdie the Bryce Jordan Center. The Lady Lions and Hoosiers will tipoff at 7 p.m. and the game will air live on the Penn State Sports Network and on BTN2go.com.

Scouting Indiana

  • Indiana has been hard to slow down on offensive this season, entering the matchup averaging 82.7 points per game, which ranks No. 12 nationally and No. 3 in the Big Ten.
  • The Hoosiers are hitting 50.1 percent of their shots from the field, which sits No. 4 in the NCAA and No. 2 in the Big Ten, just behind the nation's best 51.5 percent shooting by Maryland.
  • Indiana is No. 11 in the NCAA with 199 made free throws and to compound that, the Hoosiers are committing just 9.6 fouls per game to limit the oppositions trips to the line.
  • Junior Tyra Buss is averaging 19.8 points per game to rank tied for No. 4 in the Big Ten and No. 25 nationally. She also leads the team with 21 steals and is No. 2 on the squad with 48 helpers.
  • Amanda Cahill and Alexis Gassion are also averaging in double figures at 13.9 and 13.8 points per game, respectively. The duo also leads the team in rebounding with Cahill grabbing a team-best 8.8 boards per game and Gassion hauling in 7.0 rebounds per contest.

  • Jaida Travascio-Green put up six points, two blocks and a rebound.
  • With two rejections in the first quarter, Travascio-Green had her first career multi-block game.
  • Penn State stays undefeated at home on the season, currently with a 7-0 record inside the Bryce Jordan Center during the 2016-17 season. It is the 14th time the team has opened 7-0 at home all-time and the third time in the Coquese Washington era.
  • With 30 points off the bench, Penn State saw the bench contribute 30 or more points for the fourth time this season..

  • Peyton Whitted moved past the 500 career point mark with an eight-point effort at Indiana, ending with 504 career points.
  • Whitted also tied for team-high with seven boards, the 17th time in 2015-16 she has led or tied for the team lead in rebounds.
  • Whitted's seven rebounds gave her 234 on the season, moving her into a tie for No. 30 on the single season charts with Mia Nickson (2010-11).
  • Teniya Page handed out six assists for her 11th game of the season with at least five assists.
  • Page led the team in assists for the 19th time in 2015-16 and moved her season total to 118 helpers, which sat No. 7 on the all-time freshman charts at Penn State.
  • Page started her 29th game of the season to move her into a tie for No. 9 on the Penn State freshman starts list. Her 29 starts tied Brianna O'Rourke (2005-06).
  • The 55 points scored by Penn State marked just the third time in Big Ten play that Penn State was held to fewer than 60 points.
