HAMDEN, Conn. - The No. 8 Quinnipiac Bobcats scored a go-ahead goal with 68 seconds left in regulation to capture a 2-1 non-conference win over the Penn State women's hockey team Friday night inside the High Point Solutions Arena.

In net for the Nittany Lions, freshman Daniela Paniccia (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) recorded a career-best 47-save performance, which included a game-high 19 saves in the third period.

Quinnipiac (14-4-3, 7-2-1 ECAC) struck first in the opening frame after Meghan Turner put home the loose puck after a rebound from close-range at the 11:19 mark.

Trailing 1-0 with under 30 seconds left in the first period, freshman Kate Rydland (Eden Prairie, Minn.) intercepted a Quinnipiac pass in the Nittany Lion (5-11-3, 4-3-1 CHA) offensive end. Rydland then played the puck to sophomore Victoria Samuelsson (Leksand, Sweden), who made her way towards the net.

Samuelsson then fired a shot on goal, as she fell to the ice, which was initially stopped by Quinnipiac goaltender Sydney Rossman, but the puck ended up crossing the goal line. The play was initially ruled no-goal on the ice, but after video review the ruling was changed to a Nittany Lion goal with 15.1 seconds left in the opening period.

With the Bobcats pressing during the final minutes of regulation, Quinnipiac connected on the eventual game-winning goal with 68 seconds left as Taylar Cianfarano put the puck into the back of the net for the 2-1 Quinnipiac strike.

The Nittany Lions close out their two-game road trip against Princeton inside the Hobey Baker Rink in Princeton, N.J. on Saturday, Dec. 31. Puck drop is set for 3 p.m.
