UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; January 20, 2017– The Penn State women's tennis team is back in action this weekend at home for their first back-to-back matches of the season. The Nittany Lions host the Virginia Commonwealth University Rams on Saturday at 11 a.m. The weekend will conclude with matches against West Virginia on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
"We are looking forward to taking on VCU and West Virginia this weekend. This is our first weekend of two matches this spring so it will be great preparation for the Big Ten portion of our schedule later this spring," said head coach Chis Cagle."
The Virginia Commonwealth Rams will play their first matches of spring 2017 when they take on the Nittany Lions this weekend. West Virginia takes on Penn State coming off competition against Pitt the day before. Penn State enters the weekend coming off a 7-0 win in the season opener against Navy last weekend.
"I expect our team to come out with energy against VCU on Saturday as we know they are traditionally a strong team that makes it to the NCAA tournament regularly," said Cagle. "West Virginia has improved over the past few years as a result of Big 12 play. I hope we can get a strong showing of fans for our 11:00 a.m. start time for some great doubles."
