UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Following a tie and a loss at the hands of then No. 11 Ohio State, The Penn State men's ice hockey team slipped three spots to No. 4 in the latest USCHO.com poll released on Monday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions received one first-place vote after receiving a program-best 30 last week, which resulted in their first-ever No. 1 ranking. Penn State tied Ohio State 3-3 on Friday before suffering a 2-1 setback in the shootout. PSU then dropped the series finale 6-3 on Saturday.
This marks the seventh straight poll where Penn State has been ranked inside the top-5. The Buckeyes were the big movers as far as Big Ten teams are concerned as they jumped three spots to No. 8 and Minnesota sits at No. 6 while Wisconsin continues to receive votes.
Penn State also slides from No. 2 to No. 4 in the latest USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll. PSU plays just a single game next Saturday as they entertain Princeton at the Wells Fargo Center as part of the fifth-annual Philadelphia College Hockey Faceoff at 7 p.m.
