Scouting Purdue

  • Purdue enters the game with a 10-6 overall record and a 1-1 mark in Big Ten play. The Boilermakers fell at Northwestern, 60-76, on Dec. 31 before taking down Michigan State, 66-54, at home on Jan. 4.
  • The Boilermakers and Lady Lions share one non-conference opponent, with each defeating Pittsburgh.
  • As a team, Purdue is limiting the opposition to just 55.6 points per game and own a plus-9.4 points per game average.
    Purdue does the little things right, ranking No. 38 nationally in turnovers per game (13.6) and No. 19 nationally in fouls per game (14.1).
  • There are three Purdue players averaging in double-figures, led by senior Ashley Morrissette's 14.6 points per game. She also leads the team with 68 assists and 24 steals in 16 games.
  • Bridget Perry and Dominique Oden are each in doble-digits with 10.7 and 10.5 points per game, respectively.
  • The inside presence for Purdue is strong, with Perry, Dominique McBryde and Ae'Rianna Harris all averaging better than 4.5 rebounds per game. McBryde leads the team with 6.4 rebounds per game, while Harris adds a team-best 24 blocked shots to 4.7 boards per contest. Both McBryde and Perry each have 14 rejections on the season, as well.

Series Notes

  • Saturday afternoon marks the 49th all-time meeting between Penn State and Purdue, with the Boilermakers owning a 29-19 edge in the series. MORE ON PAGE 5
  • The two teams met one in the regular season in 2015-16, a 88-78 victory in double overtime for Purdue, while the Boilermakers also claimed a 70-59 decision in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament.
  • Over the last 10 meetings, Penn State and Purdue have each won five games, with Purdue on a current two-game winning streak.

  • With four assists, Page notched her 17 game in 2015-16 with at least 10 points and four assists.
  • Lindsey Spann netted two more made three-point baskets, pushing her season total to 65 makes, which tied Kelly Mazzante for No. 11 on the single season charts.
  • Peyton Whitted posted her seventh career double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
  • The 13 rebounds pushed her season total to 256 boards, moving her into the No. 21 spot on the single season charts.
  • Kaliyah Mitchell reached the 100-assist milestone, handing out one assist to sit squarely on the century mark.
  • Candice Agee posted two blocked shots to give her 119 career rejections and mark her 34th multi-block effort of her career.
  • The three made three-point field goals pushed Penn State's season total to 152 made shots from distance, moving them into No. 12 on the single season charts.
  • The six first quarter points scored by Purdue were the fewest allowed in an opening quarter in 2015-16 and tied for the fewest given up in any quarter by Penn State. Northwestern (2nd, 2/17) and Central Connecticut State (3rd, 11/22) also scored just six points in a quarter.
