ROSEMONT, Ill. ââ'¬" Sophomore Madison Carter (Davidsonville, Md.) has been named the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday morning.
The 2016 Big Ten Freshman of the Year has been a key part in the Nittany Lions' 3-0 start in 2017. Carter paced the No. 6 Nittany Lions to an 18-9 victory against Lehigh on Saturday afternoon with five goals and one assist for six points.
With her performance, the sophomore passed teammate Steph Lazo for first on the team and in the Big Ten with 14 goals on the season and with a pair of assists her 16 points is good for second in the conference.
Carter becomes the second Penn State player to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors so far this season after Lazo earned that distinction each of the last two weeks.
Penn State returns to action on Wednesday afternoon as they take their first road trip to Pittsburgh for a 4 p.m. contest at Duquesne as they begin a three-game road swing.
