ROSEMONT, Ill. - Four members of the Penn State women's gymnastics team garnered All-Big Ten honors, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Sophomore Sabrina Garcia (Etters, Pa.) and junior Briannah Tsang (Vancouver, British Columbia) received First Team All-Big Ten honors, while senior Nicole Medvitz (Paramus, N.J.) and freshman Kristen Politz (Morganville, N.J.) tallied Second Team All-Big Ten plaudits. For the second-straight season, Medvitz was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team and Tsang received All-Big Ten First Team honors.
In 2017, Garcia has won the uneven bars four times, the balance beam once, the floor exercise three times and the all-around twice. In the Penn State record books, Garcia has tallied a 9.950 on the uneven bars twice this season, which is tied for the No. 3 score in school history.
On the year, Medvitz has competed in all 10 meets during the 2017 regular season and has captured seven balance beam titles, which includes five balance beam titles in Big Ten competition.
In her first year with the Blue & White, Politz has competed in the all-around in eight of the 10 meets during the regular season. Politz captured her first event title as a Nittany Lion on Jan. 21, when she tied for the floor exercise title.
Tsang's junior season has featured her winning 12 event titles and five all-around titles. On the year, Tsang has won the vault five times, the balance beam three times, and the floor exercise four times. Tsang also tied the No. 5 performance in school history on the floor exercise with her score of 9.950 on March 5.
The Nittany Lions will compete in the 5 p.m. session of the 2017 Big Ten Women's Gymnastics Championships on Saturday, March 18. The meet is hosted by Rutgers at the Rutgers Athletic Complex in Piscataway, N.J.
