Arceri Named B1G Specialist of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - For the third time during the 2017 season, freshman faceoff midfielder Gerard Arceri was named the Big Ten conference's Specialist of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

With Arceri's selection, Penn State has earned at least one honor each week this season.

The freshman went 29-of-41 on faceoffs while scooping up 18 groundballs in the Nittany Lions' wins over Furman and Harvard. In Penn State's most recent outing against Harvard, the rookie went 22-of-29 on faceoffs taking on three different faceoff men, while collecting 14 groundballs, one short of his career high.

Arceri currently leads the Big Ten in both groundballs per game (10.41) and faceoff percentage (.688) Arceri's groundball figures lead the nation, while his 68.8 percent success rate on faceoffs rank second nationally.

Following Penn State's most recent 15-12 win over Harvard, the Nittany Lions matched the best start to a season in program history at 7-0. The team will have a chance to break the previous record, facing Fairfield (2-4) on Friday, March 17, at 4 p.m. The game is set to air on ESPNU.
