Arceri Added to Tewaaraton Watch List

March 16, 2017

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Tewaaraton Award committee named its first of two waves of additions to its watch list for the nation's top lacrosse honor, with Penn State freshman faceoff specialist Gerard Arceri being one of eight players to be added to the prestigious group.

Arceri, a three-time Big Ten specialist of the week selection, currently leads the country in groundballs per game, with 10.14 per contest, and is second nationally in faceoff win percentage (.688) behind only Denver's Trevor Baptiste.

The rookie has won 128 of his 186 taken faceoffs this season while adding 71 groundballs and three goals. His 24 faceoff wins and 15 groundballs against Penn on March 4 marked the best output of his career and the most in a single game by any player in the Big Ten this season.

The Tewaaraton Award, presented by Under Armour, annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.

The Nittany Lions (7-0) take to the field again on Friday, March 17, at 4 p.m. ET to face visiting Fairfield (2-4), looking to go 8-0 for the first time in program history. The game is set to broadcast on ESPNU with John Brickley and Matt Ward on the call.
