ROSEMONT, Ill. - Senior Steph Lazo (Stevensville, Md.) was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
Lazo paced the team with nine points on three goals and six assists during an 18-7 victory over Rutgers in their Big Ten Conference opener on Saturday. Lazo added a pair of goals during a 13-8 victory this afternoon against Princeton and now has 53 points on the season, good for second in the country.
Lazo also passes Diane Whipple '90 for 16th on the all-time scoring list with 175 career points. Lazo's 26 assists on the season currently lead the entire nation and her 72 career assists rank her ninth in program history. The senior has also scored 27 goals on the season good for fourth in the Big Ten.
Lazo is currently fourth nationally averaging 5.63 points per game.
Penn State returns to action on Saturday as they travel to Johns Hopkins for a Big Ten Conference matchup at 4:30 p.m.
