Garcia Receives Regular Season All-America Honors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Sophomore Sabrina Garcia (Etters, Pa.) received regular season All-America honors from the National Association of College Gymnastics Coaches for Women (NACGC/W). Garcia garners Penn State women's gymnastics' 94th All-America honor, as she was named a Second Team All-American on the uneven bars.

Garcia is the fourth Nittany Lion to receive NACGC/W regular season All-America honors, as the award dates back to the 2013 season.

In 2017, Garcia has won the uneven bars four times, the balance beam once, the floor exercise three times and the all-around twice. Last weekend, Garcia tied for second on the uneven bars at the Big Ten Women's Gymnastics Championships with her score of 9.900. In the Penn State record books, Garcia has tallied a 9.950 on the uneven bars twice this season, which is tied for the No. 3 score in school history.

Along with Garcia's All-America honor, she was named a First All-Team All-Big Ten honoree and a member of the Big Ten All-Championships Team this season.

Sharaya Musser became the first Nittany Lion to be donned a NACGC/W regular season All-American, as she garnered First Team All-America honors on the balance beam and Second Team All-America honors in the all-around in 2013. In 2014, Kassidy Stauder was named a Second Team All-American on the balance beam and last year, Kiera Brown was named a Second Team All-American on the uneven bars.

Next weekend, the Nittany Lions will compete in the 2017 NCAA Gainesville Regional hosted by the University of Florida in the Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. The meet is slated for a 4 p.m. start on April 1.

Competing against the Nittany Lions in the Gainesville Regional will be No. 3 Florida, No. 10 Georgia, No. 15 Missouri, No. 30 New Hampshire and No. 35 North Carolina.
