BALTIMORE, Md. - Coming off a huge win at No. 5 Princeton earlier this week, the tenth-ranked Penn State women's lacrosse team resumes Big Ten Conference play as they battle Johns Hopkins on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

THE MATCHUP

  • Penn State holds the 13-5 advantage in the all-time series and have won seven of the last nine meetings including the last two.
  • Last year the Nittany Lions defeated the Blue Jays 11-7 in Baltimore with Madison Cyr '16 and Jenna Mosketti '16 combining for six goals and Madison Carter adding a pair to lead the way.

RANK THAT

  • Defeating No. 5 Princeton 13-8 earlier this week's marks the highest-ranked opponent Penn State has defeated so far this season as they are now 3-1 this season against ranked teams.
  • The Nittany Lions raced out to an early 5-0 lead and after the Tigers stormed back to take the 6-5 edge, Penn State tightened their defense and outscored the hosts 8-2 the rest of the way.

MOVIN' ON UP

  • Senior Steph Lazo was held without an assist for just the second time all season in the victory over Princeton, but by scoring a pair of goals, she moved into 16th place on the Penn State all-time scoring list with 175 career points.
  • Lazo is also ninth on the all-time list for career assists with 72 while her 53 points so far this season pace the Big Ten and are good for second in the entire nation. Her 26 assists are also tops in the entire country.

MAINTAINING POSSESSION

  • Penn State has been dominate all season at controlling the flow of the game, which all starts with possession. The Nittany lions rank ninth in the country averaging 9.2 draw controls per game with sophomore Madison Carter leading the way with 5.9, good for 11th in the nation.
  • PSU is also in the top 20 percent for turnovers per game averaging just 15.7 while causing 9.6 per game.

CAN'T STOP K.O.

  • Junior Katie O'Donnell has been playing some of the best lacrosse of her career recently and just two weeks ago reached the 100-point milestone as she now sits at 113 career points.
  • O'Donnell has registered at least one goal in every game this season and has multiple goals in five straight contests including three straight with three goals or more. Her 30 goals this season rank second in the Big Ten and tied for tenth in the nation.

B1G TIME PERFORMER

  • Sophomore Madison Carter has registered two or more goals in every game this season and leads the entire Big Ten with 32 goals, good for seventh in the nation.
  • With 39 points so far this season, Carter ranks second in the Big Ten behind Lazo and 15th in the nation and she currently sits at 91 points for her career.

SCOUTING JOHNS HOPKINS

  • The Jays ran into a tough Maryland squad last weekend to open their B1G slate by dropping a 17-4 contest after having won four consecutive games. They rebounded in tune to a 13-8 victory over Vanderbilt on Wednesday and currently sit at 8-2 overall.
  • Hopkins has a very spread out offense with six players already having registered 10 or more goals led by Haley Schweizer and Nicole DeMase with 18 and 17, respectively.
  • Miranda Ibello leads the team with 30 points on 15 goals and 15 assists while Maggie Schneidereith has added 26 points of her own (12 goals, 14 assists) atop the Blue Jay offense.
  • Caroline Federico has started all ten games so far this season going 8-2 with a 8.59 goals against average and a .478 save percentage.
