FENC: Lion Men Conclude NCAA Competition

INDIANAPOLIS ââ'¬" The Penn State men's fencing team finished competition today at the 2017 NCAA Fencing Championships at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Penn State is currently 10th place after round four of competition. Four Nittany Lions competed in two of the three events, with one coming away with All-America laurels.

In the men's saber event junior Andrew Mackiewicz (Westwood, Mass.) placed seventh going 14-23, earning All-America honors for the third time. Mackiewicz was a two-time NCAA Champion in the event. Sophomore Karol Metryka (Linder, N.J) went 14-23 and placed ninth.

In the men's epee, sophomore Anton Piskovatskov (Houston, Texas) finished 11th going 12-23 and freshman Clinton Rodell (Annadale, VA) went 8-23 and finished 22nd.

The 2017 NCAA Fencing Championships close out Saturday and Sunday with the women's competition. Action starts at 9 a.m. Saturday morning.
