FENC: Women's Fencers Begin NCAA Competition

INDIANAPOLIS - The Penn State women's fencing team started competition today at the 2017 NCAA Fencing Championships at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Penn State (95) is currently in seventh place in the team race with one more day to compete.

Senior Teodora Kakhiani (Tbilisi, Georgia) sits in fourth place in the saber, going 12-15. Junior Karen Chang (Hong Kong, China) is in 15th place in the saber as well.

Freshman Jade Rowland ( Princeton Junction, N.J.) is in 14th in the foil and senior Desree Ortega-Furgeson (Wyoming, Mich.) is close behind in 15th.

Senior Jessica O'Neil-Lyublinsky ( North Salem, N.Y.) is currently in sixth place in the epee. 2016 NCAA Women's Epee Champion senior Jessie Radanovich (Tollhouse, Calif.) in 13th.

The women's team will be back inaction tomorrow with bouts starting at 9 a.m. The top eight placers in each weapon earn All-America honors.
