PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Senior Steph Lazo (Stevensville, Md.) registered seven points on four goals and three assists to pace No. 6 Penn State to a, 15-6, victory over Drexel this afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action from Vidas Field.

Penn State (11-1) opened the scoring with three quick tallies in just a 1:43 span as senior Abby Smucker (Bel Air, Md.) registered a free position shot followed by a goal from Lazo and sophomore Kayla Brisolari (Crofton, Md.) for the 3-0 margin at the 22:13 mark of the first half.

The Nittany Lions pushed the lead to 5-0 just five minutes later as Lazo potted her second of the day before feeding senior Shelby Wells (Timonium, Md.) for her sixth of the season at the 17:12 mark.

Drexel (4-5) eventually got on the board with a goal from Caroline Cummings at 16:08, but Lazo and Wells came right back with back-to-back tallies again for the 7-1 lead at the 14:14 mark.

Freshman Kristin Roberto (Miller Place, N.Y.) then sandwiched a goal between a pair of Dragon scores for the 8-3 Penn State lead with 10 minutes remaining in the first half. Sophomore Madison Carter (Davidsonville, Md.) then buried an 8-meter shot for the 9-3 edge at the 8:51 mark to register her 100th career point in just her 33rd career game.

Smucker, Lazo and Carter each added one apiece as Penn State closed out the first half on a 4-0 scoring run to open up a 12-3 lead. Carter then opened the second half scoring as she darted to the cage to record her 9th hat-trick of the season and hit running time at the 18:34 mark.

Courtney Dietzel matched the Carter goal with her first of the game at 11:47 to stop the running time, but junior Katie O'Donnell (West Chester, Pa.) collected her first score of the game just 58 seconds later to push the clock forward again and give the Nittany Lions the 14-4 advantage.

Freshman Maria Auth (Street, Md.) then sandwiched her fifth of the season between a pair of Dragon goals over the final eight minutes of play to account for the final score.

Senior Cat Rainone (Newtown Square, Pa.) finished the game with six saves to improve to 10-1 on the season.

Carter finished the game with five points on three goals and two assists while adding seven draw controls and she currently sits at 102 points for her career.

Auth added a career-high three assists to go along with her one goal and also collected a trio of ground balls to pace the Nittany Lions in that category.

Penn State held the 32-17 edge in shots including the 26-12 margin on target while also controlling the draw (16-7). Drexel held the slim 18-15 advantage in ground balls.

Penn State now returns home as the battle Ohio State in a Big Ten Conference matchup on Saturday at 1 p.m.
