ROSEMONT, Ill. - Following the opening weekend of the 2017 outdoor season for Penn State, Michael Shuey has been named the Big Ten Men's Co-Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon.
Senior Michael Shuey, who returned to the javelin run way after missing the 2016 outdoor season, picked up right where he left off as he concluded the meet with a mark of 247'2" that fell just two feet away from his school record mark of 249'-5" (76.02) from 2014.
The Johnsonburg, Pa. native is currently ranked No. 2 in the NCAA and leads the Big Ten Conference with his mark.
The Nittany Lions split squads this week as they compete in both the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. and the Stanford Invite in Palo Alto, Calif. Mar. 31- Apr. 1.
