Women's Golf in Second Place at River Landing Classic

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" The Penn State women's golf team competed in rounds one and two at the River Landing Classic today, shooting a 288, 298, respectively, sitting in second place heading into the final round.

The all-around great team performance has the Nittany Lions just two strokes behind the first place team, East Tennessee State, with a tournament score of 586, plus-10.

The two sophomores Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.), and Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.), who shot identical scores in both rounds today, led the team. Both players put up a 72 and 73, respectively, and are tied for fourth in the player leaderboard with a tournament score of 145, plus-1.

Senior Kate Granahan (Allentown, Pa.) also sits inside the top-10 of the player leaderboard heading into the final round. Granahan is tied for seventh place after shooting a 72 and 74 on her way to a total score of 146, plus-2

The team as a whole shot very similar scores throughout the day. Newcomer Maddy Herr (New Hope, Pa.) and sophomore Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) both finished the day with 78's in round two. As for the first round, Herr shot a 72, while Basso put up a 73. Herr has a tournament score of 150, while Basso is at a 151.

Newcomer Ashni Dhruva (Katy, Tx.), competing as Penn States individual player, got off to a shaky start shooting an 82 in round one, but bounced back in the second round with a solid score of 74, plus-2.

The Lions will be teeing off on holes one through four with East Tennessee St. and ECU as the final round begins tomorrow with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
