WTEN Faces Two Big Ten Opponents

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; April 6, 2017– Coming off a 5-2 loss against Rutgers, the Penn State women's team looks to rebound this weekend when they face Big Ten rivals Nebraska and Iowa. The Nittany Lions take on the Cornhuskers Friday, April 7 at 6:00p.m. ET. The team then heads to Iowa with a matchup against the Hawkeyes set for 11:00a.m. ET.

Coach Cagle on the matches this weekend

"This weekend will be a great test for our team traveling to Nebraska and Iowa. Our overall toughness will be important to be successful this weekend. I look forward to getting back into match competition of Friday."

Scouting Nebraska

Nebraska is coming off a 4-2 win over Illinois at home. The Cornhuskers currently hold a 16-2 record and are undefeated at home. They are 3-1 in the Big Ten this season. Top doubles combinations are Claire Reifeis/Hayley Haakenstad (8-1) and Mary Hanna/Paula Del Cueto Castillo (6-3). Leaders in singles on the team are Mary Hanna (13-2), Katerina Matysova (12-0) and Claire Reifeis (11-4).

Scouting Iowa

The Hawkeyes sit at 13-5 on the season and 3-3 in the Big Ten. Iowa is coming off a 1-6 loss against Northwestern. Prior to taking on the Nittany Lions, they will compete against Ohio State at home on Friday.

Nittany Lions in B1G Conference play

Penn State dropped two matches against Maryland and Rutgers this past weekend. The team has six matches (all Big Ten matchup) left in the regular season, four on the road and the final two at home.
