Rounds One and Two Complete at Lady Buckeye

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" The Penn State women's golf team competed in rounds one and two at the Lady Buckeye Invitational and finished the day in seventh place with a score of 602.

The Nittany Lions shot a 300 and 302, respectively in their two rounds and have an opportunity to really make some noise in the final round and climb the standings.

Penn State has a strong hold on seventh place, as they are six strokes ahead of Indiana, while there is only a five-stroke difference between Penn State and the fourth placed team Kent State, and an eight-stroke difference from the third placed team Illinois.

Sophomore Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) led the team shooting a 76 and 72 in her two rounds to finish tied for 10th in the player leaderboard with a tournament score of 148.

Sophomore Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) finished just behind Basso, tied for 13th place with a score of 149. Rogowicz shot a 72 and 77, respectively on the day. While, sophomore Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) shot a 74 and 78 to finish with a 152, tied for 27th.

Senior Kate Granahan (Allentown, Pa.) posted a 157 on the day, shooting scores of 80 and 77, while the newcomers Maddy Herr (New Hope, Pa.) and Ashni Dhruva (Katy, Tx.) head into the final round with scores of 154 and 164, respectively.

Texas heads into the final round in first place with a score of 589. The Longhorns have a one-stroke lead over Michigan State.

Many teams are still in contention to win the Lady Buckeye, setting up for an exciting final round, which will begin tomorrow with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
