UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" The Penn State women's golf team competed in the final round of the Bryan National Collegiate and shot a 301 on the day to finish in 14th place.
The Nittany Lions shot their best round of the tournament today, the other two rounds they posted scores of 305 and 312 to end with a tournament score of 918.
Sophomore Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) led the way in the final round shooting a 74, hitting three birdies on the day. Waller finished with a tournament score of 228.
Sophomore Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) and senior Kate Granahan (Allentown, Pa.) both shot 77's on the day. Basso finished with the lowest score on the team with a 227, as she finished tied for 44th. While Granahan hit three birdies on the day and finished with a score of 231.
The newcomer Maddy Herr (New Hope, Pa.) and sophomore Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) both finished strong shooting scores of 75. Each player had two birdies on the day and ended with scores of 236 and 238, for Rogowicz and Herr respectively.
Alabama University won the 20th annual Bryan National Collegiate breaking two tournament records that have stood since 2001. The team set a new low tournament score of 851 and the individual champion Kristen Gillman of Alabama, set a new tournament score of 208.
The team has a week off before traveling to Columbus, Ohio to compete in the Lady Buckeye hosted by Ohio State University. This is their last tournament before the Big Ten Championship.
