Round One Complete at Big Ten Championship

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" The Penn State women's golf team competed in round one at the Big Ten Championship and shot a 306, heading into the second round in ninth place.

The Nittany Lions have an opportunity to move up the standings as the seventh place team Illinois is only two strokes ahead. While Northwestern leads the pack with a three-stroke lead at 288.

Sophomore Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) started solid, hitting birdies on three of her first four holes to finish the day with a 74 2-over. Rogowicz is tied for 14th in the leaderboard.

Sophomore Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) finished right behind Rogowicz with a score of 75. Basso went 1-under through her back-nine and is tied for 20th.

Newcomers Maddy Herr (New Hope, Pa.) and Ashni Dhruva (Katy, Tx.) both shot a 79 in their first round and are tied in 52nd. Herr hit three birdies on the day, while Dhruva added one.

Senior Kate Granahan (Allentown, Pa.) ended round one with two birdies and a score of 83, while sophomore Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) added one birdie on her way to a 78 plus-6.

Second round action will get underway tomorrow with an 8:30 a.m. start time.
