Rogowicz Named Big Ten Sportsmanship Honoree

April 25, 2017

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Following the conclusion of the Big Ten Championship this past weekend, the conference announced today the women's golf All-Conference teams and individual award winners.

The Nittany Lions sophomore Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) was awarded the sportsmanship honoree, joining 13 other players in the Big Ten who were also granted the sportsmanship honor.

All athletes chosen for this award distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior, while also excelling in the classroom and demonstrating good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.

Rogowicz competed in all 10 tournaments the Lions played through both the fall and spring seasons averaging a round score of 76.14. She earned three top-5 finishes, the most of any player on the team, with her best finish coming at the River Landing classic as she tied for second, to help lead the team to capturing the title.

Jackie also played exceptionally well at her home tournament the Nittany Lion Invitational for the second consecutive year, finishing in third place while setting a new career-low round score of 68. Compare this performance to her first year where she ended as the runner-up medalist with a tournament score of 217 1-over. Both years Penn State went on to win the tournament.
