Tyndall Places Third at B1G Individual Event Finals

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Sophomore Wyatt Tyndall (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) notched a podium finish in his first Big Ten Championship Individual Event Finals on the floor exercise Saturday, April 8 at Illinois.

Overall, Penn State had six gymnasts compete in the individual event finals with Tyndall competing in a team-best two events. Tyndall earned a podium finish on the floor exercise, placing third overall with a 14.425 in the event. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native rounded out the championships with an appearance on the parallel bars.

Minnesota's Alex Wittenberg notched the floor exercise title and Brandon Ngai from Illinois picked up the pommel horse win. Illinois saw its second event winner of the day when Alex Diab notched the still rings victory. Anton Stephenson of Nebraska came away victorious on the vault before Johnny Jacobson from Illinois was the third individual event winner of the evening for the Fighting Illini on parallel bars. Finally, Jake Martin of Ohio State won the high bar for the Buckeyes.

Senior Christian McSwain (Jamestown, N.C.) completed the floor exercise in his final Big Ten Championship, scoring a 13.700 and finishing 10th overall. Freshman Stephen Nedoroscik (Worcester, Mass.) notched a fifth-place finish on the pommel horse in his first Big Ten Championship appearance with a 14.300 and senior Franz Card (Nashua, N.H.) placed eighth overall with a 13.675 in his final conference championship appearance on the high bar.
