T&F Squads Both Ranked in Latest USTFCCCA Poll

NEW ORLEANS, LA
- Following an overwhelmingly successful Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa. this past weekend, the Nittany Lions checked in at No. 17 & No. 22 on the men's and women's sides, respectively, in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings.

The Penn State men's team dropped one spot from No. 16 to No. 17, while the women's team remained as the No. 22 team in the nation.

Penn State currently boasts 17 top-25 performances in the nation over 14 events though eight meets this season, with two athletes holding the second-best performance in the NCAA in their respective events; men's 800-meters (Isaiah Harris), women's 3,000-meter steeplechase (Tori Gerlach).

Seven of the aforementioned 17 performances were set this past weekend at the 123rd Penn Relays where Penn State set four school records as well as 12 second-place finishes.

The four school records that were broken at the Penn Relays include:

  • Michael Shuey - Javelin 250'-2" (76.25m)
  • Women's 4x800-meter relay - 8:25.49
  • Women's DMR - 10:56.07
  • Men's 4x100-meter relay - 39.48
