UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The fifth-ranked Penn State women's lacrosse team will be making its 23rd NCAA Tournament appearance and sixth straight under the guidance of seventh year Head Coach Missy Doherty when the first and second round games get underway next weekend.

"We are so excited, the team has worked so hard all year long and it's just a great reward for them and how hard they played and the big wins they've had. I'm just really excited for the players," commented Doherty.

Penn State will serve as host in the first and second rounds of the tournament as they earn the No. 4 seed and a first round bye. The Nittany Lions (15-3) will play the winner of Friday's opening round contest between James Madison (13-6) and Louisville (11-7) in a second round match-up next Sunday, May 14.

Friday's neutral contest will begin at 6 p.m. while Sunday's game featuring the Nittany Lions will be played at 1 p.m. Tickets for each game can be purchased by calling 1-800-NITTANY or can be purchased on site the day of the game as a cash only sale. Prices are as follows:

Adult - $8
Youth (12 and under) - $5
Participating university students - $5
Groups (20 or more people) - $3 (not sold on game day)

PSU defeated JMU earlier this season at home in March by the score of 12-9 and hold the 20-11 advantage in the all-time series. The Nittany Lions have never faced Louisville.

This marks the tenth time Penn State has hosted a round of the NCAA Tournament and the first time since 2013 they have hosted the first and second rounds. The Nittany Lions defeated Canisius and Massachusetts that year to move on to the NCAA Quarterfinals.

Penn State last hosted an NCAA game one season ago as they defeated Penn 12-11 in the NCAA quarterfinals at the Penn State Lacrosse Field.
