Valdez Completes Puerto Rican Nationals

CAROLINA, Puerto Rico - Favian Valdez continued the Penn State men's gymnastics summer tour when he competed in the Puerto Rican National Championships Saturday, June 9. This summer, individual student-athletes will compete at the Canadian Championships (Tyndall, Zakutney), Puerto Rico National Championships (Valdez), Central American Games (Valdez), U.S. Qualifiers (Howard), World University Games (Card, Tyndall, Zakutney) and the P&G Championships (Howard, Nedoroscik, Pantazis).

Valdez notched a second-place finish on the floor exercise with a 13.450, while finishing third in the all-around, the pommel horse, the vault and the parallel bars. Finally, the Kearny, New Jersey native placed fourth on the high bar at the championships.

Valdez continues his summer gymnastics tour June 25-July 2 when he heads to the Central American Games in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
