RESULTS
SACREMENTO, Calif. - It was a busy day for Penn State on the opening day of the USATF Championships got underway with four current and two former Nittany Lions competing on the campus of Sacramento State at Hornet Stadium.
Morgan Shigo was the first Nittany Lions up as he took to the cage for competition in the men's hammer throw. Shigo, who set the school record this season, finished the event with a best of 217'-10" (66.40m) on his second attempt to finish in 10th-place.
Next up was the 800-meter trio of Isaiah Harris, Domenic Perretta, and Casimir Loxsom. Harris snagged the Auto-Q through to the semifinal winning his heat in a time of 1:48.09 while Loxsom finished 24th in 1:48.81 followed by Perretta in 31st at 1:50.49.
Tori Gerlach, the bronze medalist at this year's NCAA Championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finished the prelims of the event recording a time of 9:58.42 to finish 15th.
Former Nittany Lion Brannon Kidder finished the first-round of the 1,500-meters running 3:44.02 for 23rd overall to wrap up Day One for Penn State.
