All-Sports Museum's Ellen Perry Speaker Series: William Nichol

July 14, 2017

University Park, Pa. (July 14) -  On Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at 12 p.m. noon, William Nichol will give a gallery talk with a discussion in the Penn State All-Sports Museum’s boxing gallery.

Nichol is a 1952 graduate of Penn State with a degree in Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology. Nichols boxed for his fraternity Alpha Gamma Rho from 1950-1952. At that time, nearly half of all men’s fraternities had boxing teams that regularly competed against each other in Rec Hall. Leo Houck would often recruit from the fraternities. The varsity team and fraternity teams frequently practiced together.

Gallery talks are held in the Penn State All-Sports Museum, which is located on the southwest corner of Beaver Stadium opposite the Bryce Jordan Center. A long canopy leading from Curtin Road marks the Museum entrance. There is a small kiosk lot across the street from the museum for visitor parking, as well as in Lot 44 for those with an appropriate pass. All gallery talks are live-streamed on the PSASM’s Facebook page for those unable to attend. This event is free and open to the community.

The Penn State All-Sports Museum will host monthly gallery talks with a wide variety of coaches, alumni, and scholars throughout 2017. The gallery talks are casual, and no registration is required. Below is a list of upcoming gallery talks. Dates are subject to change.
