Swimmers Post More Futures Cuts

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Penn State junior Robbie Dickson and senior Niki Price led the Nittany Lions with a pair of second-place finishes on the second day of the 2017 Middle Atlantic Senior Swimming Championships Thursday in Kinney Natatorium.

Four of the five swims by Nittany Lions were personal bests and four surpassed the qualification standards for the U.S. Futures Championships.

Dickson, who posted a U.S. Open Championships cut time in the men's 800-meter freestyle Wednesday, was strong in the 400m Thursday with a runner-up placing in 4:02.21.

Price swam a personal-best in the women's 100m free of 57.47 to take silver and earn a Futures cut, while sophomore Maddie Hart followed in eighth in a personal-best 59.80.

Hannah Blaser cracked the top five in the women's 400m in a personal-best 4:29.46 and Auckie Fenstermacher was seventh in the men's 100m free in a personal-best 52.97. Both times were Futures cuts.

The Middle Atlantic Senior Swimming Championships continue through Saturday. The U.S. Open Swimming Championships are Aug. 2-6 in Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, New York, and the U.S. Futures Swimming Championships are Aug. 3-6 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
