UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State men's golf alumnus Christian Elliott (Port Perry, Ontario) was named a 2017 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar. Presented annually by the Golf Coaches Association of America, Elliott joins a record number 260 DI student-athletes from around the country to be selected for the prestigious honor.
To earn All-America Scholar status, student-athletes must be either a junior or senior in academic standing, having participated in at least 50 percent of the team's last three full seasons, 50 percent of the team's competitive rounds and have a stroke average under 76.0. Eligible student-athletes must also maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. Recipients must also be of high moral character and in good collegiate standing.
During the 2016-17 academic year, Elliott, a finance major, was one of the record-setting number of Penn State student-athletes from the spring/at-large sports who earned Academic All-Big Ten honors. A team captain, Elliott participated in eight events during his senior season and was instrumental in the Nittany Lions' success during his career, a period in which the team won two Milt Morgan Jr., Highest GPA Awards and made three-straight NCAA Regional appearances.
