Aug. 11, 2017

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State women's basketball alum Peyton Whitted (Suwanee, Ga.) has signed a professional contract to play with Niki Lefkadas of A1 Ethniki in Greece.

Whitted appeared in 124 games with 41 starts during her Penn State career, completing her eligibility with the 2016-17 campaign and graduated with her degree in broadcast and journalism in spring 2017.

In her four seasons on the University Park campus, Whitted compiled 718 points, 636 rebounds, 88 assists, 78 steals and 49 blocked shots. Her best season came during a breakout junior campaign, which saw her average 9.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game - a total that sat No. 7 in the Big Ten. A three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, Whitted was a team captain during her senior season.

Her 636 career rebounds sit No. 21 on the career rebound charts at Penn State, while her 256 caroms during the 2015-16 campaign are No. 21 on the single season list. She is one of only 23 Lady Lions to reach the 600-rebound mark, with five of those coming during head coach Coquese Washington's tenure.

Nineteen of her 25 double-figure scoring games came during her final two seasons, including her career-best 22 points vs. Holy Cross on Nov. 13, 2015. Her career-high 16 rebounds occurred on the road against her father's alma mater, Tennessee, in a narrow loss to the Lady Vols on Nov. 18, 2015 - a loss Penn State avenged during the 2016-17 season at the Bryce Jordan Center.
