Penn State Names Anthony Travel as University-Wide Travel Provider

Aug. 24, 2017

Penn State has selected Anthony Travel as its University-wide travel provider, serving both Intercollegiate Athletics and the business travel needs of faculty and staff. Under the multi-year agreement, Anthony Travel will begin ticketing and managing reservations made through the Travel OnLion booking system beginning Aug. 28.

"We are very pleased to expand our partnership with Anthony Travel," said Director of Athletics Sandy Barbour. "Anthony Travel is the industry leader in collegiate sports travel solutions, and our teams will benefit from their vast experience and expertise in providing excellent travel services."

"We are thrilled to be adding the services of Anthony Travel to our portfolio and anticipate a seamless transition for faculty and staff, since travel can still be booked through the Travel OnLion system," said Duane Elmore, director of Penn State Procurement Services. "They will bring some exciting new benefits to our travelers, including full-service booking with an Anthony Travel representative, 24/7 after-hours support by experienced travel agents, and access to deeper discounts through their vast international network of travel-industry partners."

Anthony Travel will provide comprehensive travel-booking services for the University, including air and ground transportation, hotel accommodations, and other services as requested. As part of the partnership, both Intercollegiate Athletics and University business travelers will benefit from account managers dedicated exclusively to Penn State. The company also will provide access to an after-hours service so travelers can quickly resolve issues when on the road outside of normal business hours.

In addition, University travelers will incur no booking fees when they use Anthony Travel.

Anthony Travel previously partnered with Intercollegiate Athletics and the Penn State Alumni Association to provide travel services for the 2014 Croke Park Classic in Dublin, Ireland.

Anthony Travel currently offers travel services to 19 universities nationwide and is the year-round travel provider for more than 75 collegiate athletic departments, including eight fellow members of the Big Ten Conference: Indiana University, University of Michigan, Michigan State University, University of Nebraska, Northwestern University, Purdue University, Rutgers University, and the University of Wisconsin.

"We got to know the Penn State people and their commitment to success through our work with them for their 2014 football game in Ireland. Ever since, we have looked forward to broadening our relationship to manage all of their travel needs," said John Anthony, president and CEO of Anthony Travel. "We are thrilled to undertake this responsibility and will proudly serve all Nittany Lions."

Beginning Aug. 28, University business travelers can book with Anthony Travel from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday by calling 814-258-6111 or 833-827-3331, or emailing pennstate@anthonytravel.com. Travelers requiring after-hours emergency service can call 888-669-3948. Travel also can still be booked online by visiting http://travel.psu.edu/ and selecting "Travel OnLion."
