PRINCETON, N.J. - Penn State pitched its third shutout of the year as the Nittany Lions remained undefeated on the season with a 2-0 win over No. 12 Princeton at Bedford Field Sunday afternoon.

Katie Dembrowski put Penn State on the board in the 12th-minute finding the cage with a shot from the top of the circle on the penalty corner attempt to take a 1-0 lead.

Penn State (5-0) maintained possession for much of the half, but Princeton did manage a few good looks at the cage putting three shots on goal in the opening half before the teams retired to the locker rooms with the score at 1-0.

It took 16-minutes of play in the second half before Penn State could add to the score as Aurelia Meijer capitalized on the penalty corner, with help from Moira Putsch and Cassie Kline, to make it a 2-0 Nittany Lion lead.

Princeton (1-3) scrambled to put together a mounting attack over the final 19-minutes, finishing with 12 shots in the second half, but the clock struck 0:00 before they could sneak anything behind Jenny Rizzo who finished the day with nine saves.

This is the first game this season that Penn State has been outshot, though the Nittany Lions held the advantage in penalty corners 8-7.

This is the first time since 2012, when the Nittany Lions defeated Cornell (2-0), Lock Haven (5-0) and Lehigh (8-0) in consecutive games, that Penn State has recorded three-straight shutouts.

Penn State will be back in action Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. when the Nittany Lions travel to Bucknell for an in-state matchup with the Bison.
