UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The 2016 Penn State Football season will be immortalized in a Big Ten Elite special that debuts Friday at 7 p.m. on the Big Ten Network. The show will also air following the Penn State volleyball match versus Nebraska, which is live on BTN.
The Big Ten Elite will feature exclusive interviews with coaches and student-athletes from the 2016 Big Ten Championship team. A listing of all Big Ten Elite: 2016 Penn State Football airings is available at http://btn.com/shows/big-ten-elite/.
The 2016 Penn State Football season was one that fans will long remember with a nine-game winning streak, a Big Ten Championship, Rose Bowl berth and a record-setting offense. All totaled, 33 school records were broken during the Big Ten Championship season, including every major passing record. Led by Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley and Big Ten Championship game MVP Trace McSorley paced the offense, while All-Big Ten selections Marcus Allen, Garrett Sickels, Jason Cabinda and Evan Schwan guided a defense that was among the best in the country in penetrating the backfield.
The Nittany Lions won their first outright Big Ten Championship since 1994 and fourth overall with a thrilling 38-31 win over Wisconsin. The victory earned Penn State its fourth Rose Bowl berth in program history. The Nittany Lions finished the season No. 5 in the CFP rankings and No. 7 in the Amway Coaches and Associated Press polls, which was the highest finish since 2005.
The fourth-ranked Nittany Lions visit Iowa for the first time since 2012 Saturday at 7:30 p.m. on ABC. The game can also be heard on GoPSUsports.com and the Penn State Sports Network.
